Mental Health Tip – Listen to Music

In this period of my life where I only see my psychiatrist twice a year, when I’m faced with stress I have to delve into my bag of coping skills and figure out how to get myself back to center.  And I figure the beginning of a new year is a good time to remind myself of a few of my go to remedies.

I grew up in a dorm without a television or a cell phone in my room so I listened to a lot of music.  I even subscribed to the Columbia program where I received a CD each month.  One of my most prized possessions was a stereo given to me by my Old Girl.  It made my time at SPS more than bearable.

I did everything to music – sleep, snack, write, study, everything.  Now that I’m older Netflix has eaten into my music time but when times get tough my iTunes radio stations come to the rescue.
