For a long time I thought what I wanted was what I needed and now I understand how different those two things are.
Needs can be satisfied with many different things so it’s easy to confuse a need with a want. Like I need to eat and I need a cheeseburger. Needing to eat and needing a cheeseburger are not the same thing but I used to think of them as the same.
I need food. I have to separate the food I need from the food I want. And then make the decision not to eat the food I want. This is the first step in my change of mindset. I haven’t figured out how to do this yet. Today I had a cheeseburger.
