To Whom Much Is Given Much Is Expected

It’s been a few years since one of my former teachers said this to me.  And not that long back another older and wiser friend asked me if I thought I was ready to really help other people.  And then in a meeting with other young black professionals one man said “Our time is over.  Stop being selfish.  Work for the next generation.”  Then a few weeks back a mentor of mine told me “It’s not all about me.”

I truly feel that success is not worthwhile if you don’t pull anyone else up with you as you go along.  As you move forward take the time to look back.  There’s someone in the shadows waiting for you to step aside and share a bit of the sun.
