Mental Health Tip – Take the Compliment

For a while when I was sick and anyone told me I was good at anything I answered with a statement that expressed my belief that they must be mistaken.  My self esteem had sunk to such a low level that I didn’t believe I was good at anything.

But now I know not to contest a compliment and just say Thank You even if I don’t agree.  It’s really not about the nice thing that the person says it’s about the type of person who takes the time to say something nice in the first place.  I’ve learned to appreciate the person more than the statement.
