Mental Health Tip: Get Back Into A Routine

Around July 4th I went two weeks and didn’t get more than 3 hours of sleep each night.

I knew that the only way to recover was to get back into an old routine.

I took my meds at 9pm (the time I took them in the hospital) and made sure all the lights were out by 10pm.  I set my alarm for 6:30am because too much sleep is just as bad as too little sleep.

If I didn’t have a routine to fall back on it is quite possible that I would have gotten sick because my hypomania is sparked by lack of sleep and that begins a very vicious cycle.

Life doesn’t often fit into a routine but once you build one that keeps you healthy it works under many different circumstances.
