Walk the Talk

July 10 (2)

When I was younger my mother always told me to have my own job, make my own money, and do not ever depend on a man.  It was the complete opposite of who she was at the time – a stay at home mom without a credit card or bank account in her own name.

I did become independent and make my own money but it wasn’t so much because I listened to her as it was that I didn’t want to live the life I saw her live.

And then at the age of 50, after all of us were gone, she got a job, left my dad, and started making her own money. It was totally unexpected and absolutely amazing.  She became the person she wanted me to be and I idolized her for it.  I’ve never been more impressed by anyone else.
