Mental Health Tip: Set Aside Time to Heal

It typically takes me a long time to get over emotional pain.  I obsess – think and rethink over days that turn into weeks and then months.  And sometimes even a couple of years later I’m in a familiar situation and the negative emotions creep in and settle in the places they used to inhabit.

The only way for me to truly heal is to let the thoughts take their course.  And I need to set aside time to think it through.  That time is painful in and of itself but it is necessary.  Not working through the emotions inhibits me and impairs my judgment.

Without this process I cannot heal and without the healing I cannot move on.
