Brownsville, Facing Forward

What Might Have Been

May 20

I don’t spend a whole lot of time thinking of the person I would be if I’d never left Brownsville.

I know my life would be completely different.  I almost can’t even imagine it.  Sometimes people say if a kid is smart then they don’t need as much help.  They will be fine no matter what.

The truth is that smart kids need people to care about them and support them just as much as kids who are not so bright.  Intelligence alone does not equal success.  And a lack of intelligence does not equal failure.
