Mental Health Tip #9: Read Other People’s Survival Stories

survival storiesWhen I was first diagnosed a therapist gave me the book Unquiet Mind by Kay Jamison.  It took me several months to get through it but once I was done I felt empowered.  If she could get better and get through school so could I.

And then my second break happened and I reread Unquiet Mind.

And then my third break happened and I reread Unquiet Mind.

It’s been a few years since I’ve read it but her story and the stories of others continue to inspire me.  I find comfort in the resilience of others.
