nami walk 2015_1 nami walk 2015I am recently aware that May is Mental Health Month.  After completing the National Alliance on Mental Illness Walk this weekend I’ve decided to share some of the ways I maintain my mental health.  At the walk the First Lady of NYC said – “There is no health without mental health.”  I couldn’t agree more.

Mental Health Tip # 1: Rest

It took me a while to learn that rest and sleep are not the same thing but the body needs both.  Time spent doing nothing much is now something I plan to do.  I could never survive without brakes throughout the workday, weekend naps, and the occasional staycation.  Life without rest is no life at all.
