Concord Cab was the only cab that would come to campus. So a call placed after 8pm on a Saturday night was at least a 20 minute wait. Once out and about it didn’t make any sense to call a cab. The best thing to do was to walk to the cab stand, pick up the radio, and request a cab directly. The person who worked the station was out picking up fares.
All you could do was wait, shiver, and pray that security began their rounds late and missed your cab coming in at 11:01.
I didn’t always make it back on time but the punishment was light – early check in for a week and then freedom to go out on a different Saturday to wait, shiver, and pray again.
