Gospel Choir

Mel loved to sing but she wasn’t good enough to get into a choir that required auditions so she put her lack of a belief in God aside to convince me to join Gospel Choir with her.  There were no auditions necessary.

The most amazing part of every rehearsal was getting to hear Ms. Allen sing.  Ms. Allen, our instructor, is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard live and we always wondered why she spent her time working with irreverent children rather than touring as a Gospel star?

Whatever the reason she accepted everyone who wanted to sing praises to God and she never asked what we truly believed.

When we performed well we loved the Lord and when we bombed we felt forsaken.  Yet through all of the ups and downs very few people dropped out.  If God didn’t move us Ms. Allen definitely did.
